Note: For simpler applications or server-based solutions, we also manufacture MoTerm, an ANSI-compatible terminal in the same housing as MoDOS.

MoDOS II is a handheld PC is designed for mobile data acquisition. It's robust housing, which can be ordered with optional IP65 dust and water protection, holds up under extreme working conditions.

It can operate for hours without recharging - processing data, managing inventory, or performing a variety of custom applications. This economy is acheived by an innovative power management system, which switches MoDOS II into sleep mode for even the smallest pauses in processing.

Easy to program

As a DOS compatible computer, MoDOS offers a familiar development environment. Create custom applications suited to your needs simply and straightforwardly with the usual compilers (for C, Pascal, or Basic). Even just a few lines of Basic written today can suffice to automate certain processes or manage your data for the long haul.

Simple connection to a host PC

Software development takes place on a host PC with the usual PC compilers. In the debugging phase the MoDOS keyboard, display and other MoDOS peripherals can be linked to the development PC.

Any terminal program can coordinate communication between MoDOS and the development PC. The "VTERM" program shipped with MoDOS routes MoDOS inputs and outputs through the development PC. (VTERM is available for DOS or Windows.) The drives of the development PC are accessible as MoDOS drives. Simple DOS "copy" commands can transfer data and programs between MoDOS and the development PC.

MicroPC as computing core

The heart of MoDOS II is taskit's MicroPC technology, including its PIF I/O bus system.

Flexible extensibility

The integrated hardware in MoDOS can be extended at any time with a wide variety of modules. Optional accessories and extensions include: barcode scanner, infrared interface, DECT module, CompactFlash memory cards, an more. MoDOS is likewise designed to empower you to integrate your own, custom-developed hardware - the internal PIF bus is an easy-to-program peripheral bus.

Made to order

Development of additional hardware and software can also be performed by taskit, to order. We can meet your requirements for custom hardware solutions, even for a small number of units.

Keyboard and LCD

Input and output can be made by means of the keyboard/LCD or the serial interface (using a terminal program) - using standard DOS I/O. I/O calls can be made by all well-known programming languages, such as C/C++, Pascal, Assembler and Basic. A range of graphic functions are available for the LCD.

Options and accessories

  • MoDOS with integrated bar-code scanner, including a demo (with C source) which reads the barcode and displays the data.
  • charger with RS232 interface (UDS Chargebox)
  • matching carrying case
