Ease of use

MoLUX is an all-purpose handheld computer for mobile applications in logistics, industry and business. Whether indoors or outdoors, in a warehouse or manufacturing plant: the ergonomically designed MoLUX is very simple to use. Its 21 foil keys have strong pressure points - you can even use the device with gloves on. For use under particularly raw or adverse conditions, MoLUX is optionally available with a rubber seal (protection class IP65). This prevents infiltration of dust, dirt and water jets. The 3.5" TFT color display offers good presentation and readability, especially in poor lighting conditions. It boasts a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels with a 24-bit color depth.

Powerful ARM technology

MoLUX was developed around the AT91SAM9261 Atmel® controller. The AT91SAM9261 has an integrated LCD controller that supports resolutions of up to 2048 x 2048 pixels. The 200 MHz ARM926EJ-S processor core's low power consumption makes it ideal for use in mobile devices.

The many advantages of Linux

The popular Linux open source operating system is preinstalled, for which a multitude of free programs and tools are available in the Internet. Linux is thus also suitable for developers who have not previously worked with this operating system. The freely accessible source code enables drivers and application software to be customized as needed. In addition, Linux is efficient at multitasking and for Ethernet/LAN networking.

Programming

The standard GNU tools are used to program MoLUX (including the GNU Compiler Collection and GNU C Library). Basic graphic display functions are provided by the GTK+ graphic library and X-Server. You can use the JamVM virtual machine for starting Java applications.

Modern energy-saving functions

To make sure enough energy is available for mobile use, MoLUX is supplied by a powerful lithium-ion battery. When fully charged, the battery boasts 15 Wh of energy - enough to power the device with full display lighting and constant use for a workday without recharging. Of course, usage time can be extended by adept power management. MoLUX boasts the energy-saving functionality of modern computers with standby and power-down modes. The extensive power management functions are programmed by the user, so that MoLUX can switch modes as desired to reduce energy consumption.

Flexible expandability

The hardware integrated into the MoLUX can be extended with a wide variety of modules and interfaces. Optionally available are, for instance, DECT, RF-Modem, WLAN, GSM and many more. Or you can enlist taskit to integrate custom hardware and software solutions. Custom hardware solutions are possible even for orders of relatively few pieces.
