The core of this industry PC is the 386EX-Card, which has proven successful in the marketplace for years. Many users require further features in addition to the 386EX-Card's serial interfaces, e.g. controllers for a floppy drive, IDE, LCD or keyboard. Instead of requiring several individual interface cards in the PIF format, the 386EX LCD Panel-PC integrates these interfaces into a single component.
The 386EX Panel-PC is available either in a housing or in kit form for installation into the customer's own devices.
Either an MF2 keyboard or matrix keyboard can be attached. Flash memory of up to 8MB is possible. If further interfaces are needed, extension cards from the PIF-card system can be attached via the PIF slot. Existing power supplies with a large voltage range (in machines or electrical cabinets for example) can very often be utilized.

The 386EX-Panel-PC is particularly suitable to be utilized as a small-format control unit. The dimensions (175x109mm) of the 386EX Panel-PC correspond to those of the LCD display. The transflective LCD's backlight enhances legibility under even unfavorable lighting conditions.
If you screw the 386EX Panel-PC behind such a display, you will have a complete computer which can be easily integrated into a housing.
With the alternatively available complete unit in a housing (optionally equipped with a touch screen), all important PC interfaces are available: e.g., the four COM ports (which each use their own interrupt), the bi-directional LPT interface, and the PS2 keyboard connection.
The Panel-PC compactness opens up a variety of implementation possibilities: as a control terminal, in medical technology, or in weighing technology.
