LCD-Terminal

The LCD-Terminal was developed as small service unit for computing systems that do not necessarily require a complete input/output unit such as keyboard and monitor. The LCD-Terminal is intended, first and foremost, as a monitoring and control unit.

The terminal can, for example, relay status messages from servers and industrial computers. Control signals can be sent to the connected computer or server either using the 6 keys on the LCD-Terminal, or via an optional matrix keyboard.

The 128x64-pixel LCD serves for output. If the user only needs to read output from the host system, the LCD-Terminal can also be sold without the 6 keys. In such a configuration, the LCD-Terminal could be used, for example, to display the load on a server.

The LCD-Terminal is controlled via standard ANSI sequences, which come over a serial interface at 300 to 115200 Baud. The slow Baud rate option enables implementation for microcomputers that cannot be operated with high Baud rates.

The LCD-Terminal instruction set is largely compatible to the VT100 - ANSI instruction set.

LCD-Terminal serves as a text-output unit only and does not have a graphic- or text-mode. Graphical functions in princible are possible but not implemented as escape-sequences. The special escape-sequences are for control of the terminal (LED′s, Baud rate, monitor update, reset).
